Detailed Resort Review

How big is the resort? 60 skiable acres and 265 foot vertical

Please rate this resort on a scale from 1 (terrible) to 5 (amazing): ️️️3 stars

Why did you choose this resort? Nordic Mountain is on the Indy Pass and is about a 90 minute drive from my home, so I wanted to check it out.

What were the conditions like during your experience? Socked in by clouds the whole day, but the snow was decent. It was almost exclusively machine-made snow, and it was consistently firm but not icy.

What's your overall impression of the resort? Nordic Mountain is a worthwhile spot for a day trip from anywhere in southwest or central Wisconsin, especially in the early season if other resorts haven't gotten or made enough snow to make it worth the trip. The runs are longer than you'd expect for a mountain of this size (60 acres) and there are several runs with fun twists and turns that lend themselves well to side-hits.

What is the BEST thing about this resort? The best thing about Nordic Mountain is definitely the bar. It's super cozy inside — a classic Wisconsin up north experience. The staff were really nice and they were super cool about accommodating my dairy sensitivity.

Are there any ways in which this resort didn't meet your expectations? The terrain park at Nordic often has beginner-friendly features like flat ride-on boxes and small jumps, which is awesome, but the tow ropes are set up in a way that it's almost impossible to ride them on a snowboard without strapping out and back in. That makes it hard to get into a flow. But I did have one day there (I've been twice) where I was able to do a ton of laps on the same terrain park run doing a jump over and over until I was nailing the approach speed and clearing the landing.
